Most condominium projects do not carry insurance to cover the interior of a condominium unit if the unit is destroyed by fire.  The master policy will pay to rebuild the exterior walls but it may not include coverage for the interior improvements such as electrical wiring, plumbing fixtures, kitchen cabinets, carpet, any structural improvements that you or previous owners may have made to the unit etc.  If the master policy does not include this coverage (called an H06 policy) Buyers purchasing condominiums need to know that now all loan types and investors require “walls-in” insurance.
